Upon filing your bankruptcy petition you will be given the date for your 341 hearing which is also called the “meeting of creditors”. This hearing is not as scary as it sounds. Very rarely do any of  your creditors ever appear at the hearing. The bankruptcy trustee runs the meeting and, after swearing you in, may ask you questions about your bankruptcy and the papers you filed. You will be asked to produce your drivers license and social security card. The trustee will ask you the following questions:

“Is your address listed on your petition your current address?”

“Did you list all of your assets and all of your debts on your petition?”

“Have transfered any assets in the last year?”

“Do you have any child or spousal support obligations”

The questioning will last only five minutes if you have filed out your petition correctly. In a chapter 7 case this will be your only hearing.
